YOUNG RUST . THE ULTIMATE NEIL YOUNG TRIBUTE

Young Rust is New England’s ultimate Neil Young tribute experience.  Formed in late 2004 by longtime regional music scene veterans Mike Gendron, Ryan Meehan, and Kevin Ferschke, the band quickly set out to celebrate the timeless catalog of one of rock’s most influential artists.  Soon after its formation, the group welcomed multi-instrumentalist John Winters, whose rhythm guitar and pedal steel playing helped shape the band’s authentic Neil Young sound.

Today, Young Rust performs over 60 songs from Neil Young’s extensive career, with a repertoire that continues to grow as they explore selections from Young’s 700+ song catalog.  Their performances capture the spirit, energy, and emotional depth that have made Neil Young’s music resonate with generations of fans.

For front man Mike Gendron, the connection to Neil Young’s music began early.  Inspired by Young’s songwriting and guitar style, Mike picked up his first electric guitar at age 15 and has spent decades learning and performing Neil’s songs.  When he joined forces with Ryan and Kevin, the trio discovered an immediate musical chemistry and set out to form what became Rhode Island’s first tribute band dedicated to Neil Young.

Since then, Young Rust has built a strong following throughout New England, developing lasting relationships with venues that regularly invite the band back for repeat performances.

Over the years, the band has delivered many memorable shows, including appearances at the legendary Toad’s Place in New Haven, Connecticut, and numerous festivals such as the Rhode Island Seafood Festival (performing annually since 2013), CumberlandFest, the Providence Firefighters’ Annual PKD Benefit Festival, and the 1 of 52 Hunger Benefit Concert Series, where members also perform yearly solo acoustic sets.

With a deep respect for Neil Young’s music and a passion for bringing it to life on stage, Young Rust continues to celebrate the songs, stories, and spirit of one of rock’s most enduring artists.
