“An impressive contemporary blues and soul powerhouse. Jovin Webb is clearly the real deal” —Rock & Blues Muse
Five years before he dazzled millions of viewers on American Idol with his bayou mystique, his humility, and his distinctive gravelly vocals, lifelong musician Jovin Webb was on the verge of giving up on his music career dreams. Bringing Louisiana soul to the famed talent show franchise proved to be a career reset. Today, the Baton Rouge-based artists steps forward with his raw and emotive debut album, Drifter, out on the iconic blues label, Blind Pig. The 12-song collection is a vibrant mix of growling low-down blues, Jovin’s wailing harmonica, heartfelt soul ballads, and rowdy, Little Richards-style rock ‘n’ roll. Drifter was produced by multi-Grammy winning producer Tom Hambridge (Buddy Guy, Susan Tedeschi, Christone “Kingfish” Ingram).
“At a young age, the longing and pain expressed by Southern Black Baptist church music spoke to me, but as I experienced my own trials and tribulations, I felt the pull of the blues,” Jovin shares. “I soon realized that gospel and blues are related. Someone with the blues is in a low place, and when you seek salvation you’re also usually in a low place.”
Drifter is the sound of a blues life searching for a gospel redemption. “It’s me trying to figure out religion, women, my career, and everything I’ve gone through,” Jovin says. The twelve tracks on Drifter evoke a blues classicism without ever feeling nostalgic or derivative.
When he first stepped onto the Idol stage in 2020, Webb captivated the judges and audiences alike. Lionel Richie described his voice as “the sound of barbecue sauce,” while Luke Bryan remarked, “I could sit and drink a lot of bourbon listening to that voice.” These comments, alongside the singer’s authenticity, helped propel him into the hearts of fans nationwide.
His life story is one of humility and strength. Raised by a devoted single mother who sacrificed for her family, Webb learned the importance of hard work and determination. His father, a charismatic figure, introduced him to the blues at an early age, singing John Lee Hooker’s “Boom Boom” and instilling in him a love for the genre.
With Drifter, Jovin Webb emerges as more than just a contestant on a talent show—he is a first-rate artist whose music echoes the trials and triumphs of his life. His debut album encapsulates a journey of self-discovery, transforming personal struggles into powerful melodies that resonate deeply with listeners.
Why is there a difference in price for available seats at The Music Room?
All seating at The Music Room is acquired with a first come, first served basis approach. The Music Room provides all patrons with a live musical experience above and beyond your average concert hall, and supporting this vision are the 4 tiers of available seats at The Music Room. With a nod to classic record sales certification, the 4 tiers are: Diamond, Double Platinum, Platinum, and Gold. Seats range in price based on several factors including artist availability and distance to the stage.
Do you have the same number of seats for each tier?
No. The Diamond tier of seats only has 12 seats available. These seats are 4 top rounds located right at the foot of the stage. You cannot get any closer to the artist than these 12 seats. These are considered premium seats and are usually purchased by the most ardent fans.
The Double Platinum sections features 4 top square tables and one special 2 top rectangle, and there are 14 seats available. Still very close to the stage, these seats provide an exceptional view and personal experience. Table no. 7 is a 2 top rectangle that sits just to the right of the stage and back approximately 6 feet. It is an extremely popular table.
The Platinum section of seats has a mixture of 4 top squares, two 3 high top rounds, and 9 drink rail seats that are bar height. The total number of seats in the Platinum section is 37. These are all excellent seats and reside in the main room. Depending on a viewer’s personal taste, a table, a high top, or a drink rail might be the right choice, but they are all fabulous and unobstructed.
Gold seating is available in the bar area and can be considered first come, first serve general admission. Most of the seats are unobstructed but depending how patrons sit at the bar or high tops, there might be a slight obstruction. Standing room is permitted in the Gold section. The sound is excellent and most Gold level tickets are purchased by patrons that want to be near the bar specifically or by patrons wanting to be further away from the stage by design. Please refer to our pictures to determine if this area is what you are looking for. There are only several seats available and mostly Standing Room.
PLEASE READ OUR SEATING CHART EXPLANATION. GOLD TICKETS OR GENERAL ADMISSION TICKETS (GA) HAVE LIMITED SEATING (FIRST-COME, FIRST SERVE IN THE BAR AREA) WITH THE REMAINDER STANDING ROOM ONLY.
